Two crashes on I-94 in Michigan City cause major delays, semi driver under investigation

Two crashes occurred on I-94 in the early evening Thursday in Michigan City, according to the Indiana State Police. At 6:11 p.m. police said there was a crash on I-94 eastbound at the 38 mile marker, which is one mile west of US 20 and 6 miles east of U.S. 421. Police said it was a multi-vehicle crash involving a rolled over semi in the median. All lanes were blocked. Early reports were that there were injuries and at least one person was trapped in their vehicle. At 6:43 p.m. the Indiana State Police reported that a second crash that

Press Release, Berrien County Sheriff’s Office: BERRIEN COUNTY, MI — On October 22, 2025, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Pokagon Band Tribal Police Department, Michigan City Police Department, and the Michigan State Police Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET-West), conducted a targeted human trafficking and sex trafficking enforcement operation in Berrien County. This multi-agency effort focused on identifying traffickers and locating and assisting victims of trafficking. Overnight lane closures on I-94 at U.S. 6/S.R. 51 this week in Lake County

In Lake County, there are overnight closures on I-94 at U.S. 6/State Road 51. The inside lanes of I-94 are closed in each direction between Clay Street and the Indiana Toll Road during the overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, Oct. 24. A crane will be constructed in the median work zone for pile driving activities, which will begin on or after Monday, Oct. 27. Additional impacts to traffic are planned as bridge demolition and construction activities take place and will be communicated in advance. A Chesterton resident was defrauded when looking to purchase a puppy in an online transaction, according to the Chesterton Police and the Town of Chesterton Facebook page. Unity Foundation of La Porte County is pleased to recognize 10 local high school seniors as La Porte County finalists for the prestigious Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. Multi-vehicle crash results in 1 fatality in Lake County

One person died following a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Lake County. According to the Indiana State Police, at around 10:45 a.m., troopers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on I-80 eastbound near the 6.4 mile-marker, located about 1.4 miles east of Cline Avenue in Gary. The initial investigation revealed that a white sedan was changing lanes in front of a semi tractor trailer while driving eastbound on I-80. Update-Michigan City Police Department conducting a double homicide investigation On October 19th, 2025 at 1:11 AM, the LaPorte County E-911 Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Johnson Road and County Road West 300 North in LaPorte. Deputies from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and learned a juvenile involved in this crash investigation was suspected of a double homicide that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Schofield Court in Michigan City. Lakeshore Drive Closure in La Porte

Lakeshore Drive will be closed at the intersection with Greenleaf Street starting today, with access only allowed for those who reside between Greenleaf and Craven Drive. JEREMIAH MILLER PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC BATTERY!

On October 20, 2025, in the midst of Jury Selection, Jeremiah Miller pled guilty to Domestic Battery (a Level 5 Felony) in Circuit Court in Laporte. Mr. Miller was originally charged in October 2023 with Domestic Battery (Level 5 Felony) and Strangulation (Level 6 Felony), after allegedly striking his own mother.
