The City of La Porte announced on their Facebook page that Colfax Avenue between 5th Street and State Road 2 will be closed starting Thursday, June 25, for water utility work necessary to complete the project at the National Guard Armory. An end date was not listed.

Police responded to a possible drowning on Monday. At approximately 5:38 pm, officers responded to Washington Park beach regarding a possible drowning. Bystanders observed a child wearing red shorts enter the water on the east side of the catwalk and just south of the lighthouse.
