Town of Porter Police Department is kicks off Halloween Candy Drive

The Town of Porter Police Department announced on Friday that for the next two weeks, they'll be collecting candy donations "to help make Halloween extra sweet for our community’s little ghouls and goblins." Michigan City Police Department conducting a double homicide investigation

Deputies from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and learned a juvenile involved in this crash investigation was suspected of a double homicide that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Schofield Court in Michigan City. Two adults found deceased at a residence in Michigan City

On October 19th, 2025, at approximately 1:30am the Michigan City Police Department conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 100 block of Schofield Court. Two adults were found deceased inside the residence from foul play. One juvenile male is currently in custody. The incident is under active investigation. Franciscan Health, Lake County Health Dept. team up for free outdoor walking program

CROWN POINT, Ind. – Franciscan Health is partnering with the Lake County Health Department to provide a free, four-week outdoor walking program this fall. MCHS Cadet Earns Service Above Self Award

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Ogden Dunes

Due to the water main break, the Ogden Dunes Water Department has issued a precautionary Boil Water Advisory. This advisory went into effect at 1:52 p.m. Thursday and is expected to remain in effect for approximately 48 hours. The Ogden Dunes Police Department also said the following: "It is recommended that all water used for cooking and drinking be boiled completely for five (5) minutes before use. One person shot in La Porte, two in custody

One person was shot and two people were arrested after a shooting in La Porte, according to the La Porte Police Department. On Wednesday at about 1:10 a.m., officers from the City of La Porte Police Department were dispatched to the Maple Tree Apartments, located at 1405 West 18th Street, in reference to a report of a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was provided immediate medical aid by first responders and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
