Governor Holcomb Addresses Bus Stop Accident That Occured In Fulton County

Native Wildlife Education Trunks Bring Classroom Lessons to Life

Schools, homeschool cohorts, libraries, and other education facilities in the Lake Michigan Coastal region now have access to unique hands-on on teaching resources to enrich student experiences, thanks to a new rent-a-trunk program at Humane Indiana Wildlife. Five new education trunks address topics including Mammals, Birds, Endangered/threatened Species, and Wildlife Rehabilitation. HOOSIERS URGED TO CELEBRATE A HEALTHIER HALLOWEEN

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) is encouraging Hoosiers to celebrate a healthy Halloween by limiting the amount of sweets they consume and increasing their physical activity this season. According to the 2016 National Survey of Children’s Health, 18.5 percent of Hoosier children between the ages of 10 and 17 were considered obese and 15.4 percent were identified as being overweight. Trial courts celebrate National Adoption Day with cameras in court

Thirty Indiana judicial officers will celebrate National Adoption Day by allowing families and press the opportunity to photograph and videotape adoption proceedings. The Indiana Supreme Court is authorizing cameras in court for uncontested adoptions. National Adoption Day is celebrated to increase awareness of the value of adoption. Many agencies including the Department of Child Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Children’s Bureau, and local adoption agencies will be involved in events across the state. Police Respond To Aggravated Battery In Porter County On Report Of Stabbing

According to a statement from the Porter County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday at 1:30am, Porter County Sheriff’s Detectives investigated an aggravated battery, where a subject was reported to have been stabbed in the 500 E block of Carriage Lane in rural Jackson Township. The individual that was injured, was identified as 21 year old Gordon Ray Sharkey III of Lowell. Sharkey was transported to a medical facility for injuries he sustained. The other party involved has been identified as a 21 year old male from Westville (Jackson Twp). All information will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office for review. This

Young Presents Purple Heart to Hoosier Veteran

Yesterday, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) attended a military service medal ceremony at the Clay County Courthouse where he presented Mr. Paul Lucas of Poland, Indiana with the Purple Heart he earned during the Korean War. Senator Young also presented Mr. Lucas with several other medals he earned, including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Combat Infantry Badge (1st Award), and United Nations Service Medals. NIPSCO Natural Gas System Upgrade Project Near Completion – Michigan City

NIPSCO is set to complete the final phase of a three year natural gas system upgrade near Michigan City. This work is part of the company’s ongoing modernization plan to upgrade their natural gas infrastructure system. Now through Thursday, November 1, NIPSCO and their contracted crews from Minnesota Limited, LLC are commissioning a 21 mile section of their pipeline. As part of this process crews will need to burn natural gas at the south east corner of W 300 N and County Line Road near I-94 in Michigan City. La Porte Police Issue SCAM ALERT

The LaPorte Police Department received reports of individuals receiving emails from someone claiming to be the LaPorte Water Dept. These messages state that your water bill is overdue and that you will need to call an 800 number. The emails appear to be coming from LaPorte.org. The water department will not send out an email for overdue water bills and do not have an 800 number for you to contact. Police say this is a scam and to please delete the email if you receive one.
