Governor Holcomb Issues Statement Regarding Allegations Against Attorney General Curtis Hill

Gov. Eric J. Holcomb offered the following statement Thursday regarding allegations made against Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill: “Four women had the courage to step forward to report sexual harassment by the Indiana Attorney General. The findings of the recent legislative report are disturbing and, at a minimum, show a violation of the state’s zero tolerance sexual harassment policy. I concur with Sen. Long and Speaker Bosma that Attorney General Hill should resign, and I support a thorough investigation by the state’s Inspector General.”

Safe Sitter Courses Offered for Young Teens at La Porte Hospital

La Porte Hospital is offering Safe Sitter courses for young teens, grades 6-8, to help them learn about home safety and the basics about how to be a safe babysitter. Bridge Replacement to Close Stretch of SR 39 in Pulaski County until October

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces that State Road 39, just south of North Judson, will close on or after Wednesday, July 11, until early October for a bridge replacement. The road will be closed between CR W. 500 N. and CR W. 400 N. State road detours must be on state-maintained roads only. La Porte Man Sentenced To 88 Months In Prison For Transporting Child Pornography

Twenty-five year old Christopher M. Bangs, of LaPorte, was sentenced before District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr. for transporting child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Kirsch. Bangs was sentenced to 88 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $27,500 total to six victims depicted in his child pornography collection.

Crash on Indiana Toll Road Sends 5 People to the Hospital

On Tuesday afternoon, troopers from the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post responded to calls of a crash in the eastbound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road near the 19.6 mile marker. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Tim McCormick shows that a grey 2017 Honda minivan driven by 36 year old Amie Kielbasa-Szelinski of Munster, IN, stopped for an unknown reason in the right lane. A white 2016 Ford F350 towing a 24 foot trailer, driven by 49 year old Clinton Burroughs of Muskegon, MI, was traveling eastbound behind the Honda when it swerved to the left to avoid the Honda.

Traffic Reminder for La Porte 4th of July Parade

The LaPorte Police Department has released details for the upcoming La Porte 4th of July Parade. Traffic will be diverted off of State Road 2 (Lincolnway) beginning at 8:30 AM on the Fourth of July. ISDH Makes Correction Regarding New Law Impacting Adoption Records

The ISDH has made a correction to the new adoption records law released last week. Effective July 1, Indiana residents placed for adoption before Jan. 1, 1994, can request access to their birth records from the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) due to a change in state law.
