An investigation is underway after two people were found dead at inside a Michigan City hotel room, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office. The La Porte County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, along with the assistance of the Michigan City Police Department, are investigating the circumstances of two adults found deceased inside a room located at the Dunes Inn (3934 North Frontage Road, Michigan City). Firefighters responded to a shed on fire in unincorporated Liberty Township late afternoon Monday. Volunteers from Liberty Township, South Haven, and Union Fire Departments responded for a shed having caught fire near a residence in the 200 block of Falcon Way near U.S. Highway 6 in Eagle Ridge subdivision. Firefighters arrived on scene and found an approximate 20 by 15 foot shed in close proximity to the residence fully engulfed. Firefighters entered the residence to check for extension after radiating heat caused the exterior of the house siding to melt. Only a smoke-filled residence was found and subsequently ventilated. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reporting conservation officers are investigating the death of a Chicago man whose body was recovered from Lake Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 9, according to a Facebook post from the Town of Chesterton. STARKE COUNTY, Ind. - An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor will close U.S. 421 between County Road West 400 South and County Road West 2400 South on or after Monday, Sept. 18. U.S. 421 will be closed through mid-November for bridge deck overlay projects over the Kankakee River and Payne Ditch. Motorists should seek an alternate route. One person was injured and another went to jail after a crash involving a school bus and a semi Thursday night on I-65 in Jasper County. At about 11:15 p.m. the Lowell Regional Dispatch Center received 911 calls of a crash involving a school bus and a semi on I-65, northbound lanes at the 222 mile-marker. This location is two miles north of the Fair Oaks exit. Troopers responded to the scene and located a school bus in the right ditch.  The driver of the bus was pinned in the vehicle, but was alert. Detectives with the Indiana State Police are investigating a homicide at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. Friday morning at about 4:30 a.m., detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division Lowell Post responded to the Indiana State Prison located in Michigan City for a death investigation. The victim, an inmate at the prison, has been identified as 44-year-old Victor Glenn, from Indianapolis, IN. Glenn was serving a sentence for murder with a projected release date of 6/15/2066. This is an active homicide investigation.

K9 Clavo is also a 1 year-old, male, Dutch Shepherd, born in Germany. This weekend is Apple Fest at the Garwood Orchards Farm Market - an annual Arts and Crafts show held at the Farm Market area. The vendor booth hours are 9am to 4pm on Saturday, 9/9 and Sunday, 9/10 which differs from the regular Farm Market and UPick hours. The Farm Market opens at 8:30am on Monday-Saturday and at 10am on Sundays (staff will open the market at 9am this Sunday).   Valparaiso Police Investigating Crash   The Valparaiso Police Department responded to a single motor vehicle crash in the area of State Road 49 and US. Highway 30 at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The crash resulted in the fatality of a passenger within the vehicle.  The motor vehicle crash remains under investigation; however, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor at this time.  All ramps along the US Highway 30 and State Road 49 interchange that had been previously closed have been reopened as of 7:00 a.m.
