La Porte Police to increase traffic enforcement during the holidays

Officers will be on the lookout for impaired and unbuckled motorists City of La Porte Police Department announced today it will be increasing patrols during the holiday season, as part of the winter Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over national enforcement mobilization.Now until Jan. 1, officers will be showing zero tolerance for impaired drivers, whether it’s alcohol or drugs, and will be on the lookout for unbuckled motorists. Michigan City Teachers Can Apply for Small Grants

Unity Foundation has three grant programs for Michigan City school teachers established by caring donors who believed in teachers as the critical factor for learning.These three funds have invested in more than 1,000 educators with $370,000 for projects of their own design, since the mid 1990’s. FIRST DOSES OF COVID-19 VACCINE ARRIVE IN INDIANA

The Indiana Department of Health announced today that the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to frontline healthcare workers in Indiana, after the state’s first allotment of vaccine arrived Monday morning. The first doses were administered to a physician, nurse, respiratory therapist, pharmacist, patient care tech and environmental services tech at Parkview Health in Fort Wayne shortly after noon today. New equipment will allow La Porte streets to be paved during winter

Winter will not stand in the way of fixing potholes as it has in years past, according to La Porte Mayor Tom Dermody.  The City of La Porte Street Department, under the leadership of Superintendent Mike Fraze, recently purchased a new storage total tank, which uses technology to heat the oil and tar used to fill potholes. La Porte’s Utility Billing Office closed following COVID-19 Case

The Utility Billing Office in La Porte City Hall will be closed until further notice following a positive COVID-19 case. Employees are being sent for testing, resulting in office closure until personnel can return. Clerk Clerk-Treasurer Courtney Parthun said this means the drive thru will be closed and phones will be forwarded to voicemail for the time being. Valparaiso Police Seeking Identification of Subject In Connection With Stolen Tip Jar

Valparaiso Police are investigating the theft of a tip jar, containing an unknown amount of funds, from the Valparaiso Dunkin Donuts, located at 1651 Morthland Dr. The theft occurred on November 18th, at approximately 9:00 p.m.  The male subject in the photographs posted to the Valparaiso Police Facebook page, removed the jar from the side of the drive-thru area and walked away.  It is believed he walked to a dark colored Jeep Liberty that was parked nearby and can be seen in the far-right hand corner of the last photo (past the dumpsters). A Franciscan Health physical therapist who specializes in treating cancer patients is one of the first professionals in the country to earn board certification as a specialist in oncologic physical therapy. Afternoon Crash Results In Felony OWI Arrest

Thursday afternoon, a LaPorte County Deputy responded to a personal injury crash at the intersection of SR 2 and Fail Road. The crash investigation revealed that a 2021 Lincoln, driven by 56 year old Bertina K.
