WANTED LAPORTE COUNTY MAN TAKES OWN LIFE

Late last month, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office began a child pornography investigation. A Deputy within the Patrol Division was provided the initial information. Immediately following, Sheriff’s Office Detectives began to actively work and follow-up on the case. A suspect, 36 year old Rusty D. Reuille, was quickly identified. As a result of the investigation, a criminal arrest warrant was issued for Reuille on May 3rd. The criminal arrest warrant for Reuille was for the following charges: two counts of Felony Child Molestation, two counts of Felony Promotion Of Human Trafficking Of A Minor, one count of Felony Child

Michigan City Woman Arrested After Three County, 40 Mile Pursuit

On May 12th at approximately 10:45 p.m., Trooper Nicholas Price stopped a white 2005 Chrysler 300 on I-65 at the 260 mile marker for a minor traffic offense.  During the traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Tabitha S. Fidanza, 37, of Michigan City Indiana, refused to identify herself and initially gave her sister's information as her own.  Additional units were called to the scene and Gary Police Department responded.  During the investigation, Fidanza was asked to exit the vehicle but rather then comply, she fled the scene in her vehicle, striking a Gary police officer.  The officer that was

MCAS Participating In Summer Food Service

Michigan City Area Schools has announced plans to participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Free meals will be made available to all children 18 years of age and under and to persons over 18 years who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled. Armed Robbery In Portage

An Armed Robbery occurred at approximately 6 p.m. at the Check Into Cash business in the Portage Commons (Business complex located on the northwest corner of U.S. Hwy 6 / Willowcreek Road). Suspect vehicle is believed to be a black Chevy Trailblazer and the suspect is a black male wearing dark colored clothing. Our officers are canvassing the area for leads and processing the scene. PNW To Offer Free Cybersecurity Camp To High School Teachers And Students

Purdue University Northwest’s (PNW) College of Technology will offer free cybersecurity summer camps for high school teachers and students from northwest Indiana, southwest Michigan and the Chicago metropolitan area through a $194,010 grant, jointly funded by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). This is the third consecutive year PNW has received the grant for the summer programs. New Ordinance In Valpo Requires Alarms to be Registered

In 2016 Valparaiso Police Officers responded to over 1400 police false alarms. A new city ordinance requiring alarms within the city limits to be registered has been initiated. Businesses and residences that have an alarm are now required to register them with the City of Valparaiso. Currently all alarms can be registered without a charge until July 31st. Registration can be easily completed by logging on to the Valparaiso Police Department’s website at www.valparaisopolice.org. Individuals that fail to register their alarm are subject to fines. I-65 Crash Claims One Life

On Thursday just before 5:30 pm, troopers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on I-65 northbound lanes at the overpass at exit 215. Trooper Nicholas Price was dispatched to the scene and upon his arrival he discovered 2 semi trucks with trailers in the median under the S.R. 114 overpass. One semi had substantial damage to the front of the tractor. The other semi had minimal damage to the passenger side of the truck. Furniture Theft In Portage

According to the Portage Police, on May 4th Jimmy Johns reported the theft of patio furniture from in front of the business located at 2547 Willowcreek by a possible scrapper. The suspect was driving an older model possible Ford F-150 Silver in color with a blue quarter panel passenger side and was being driven by an older white male with a white beard and an older white female passenger. President Trump In Elkhart Today

According to a press release from Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., Vice President Mike Pence is now scheduled to join President Trump at a campaign rally today in Elkhart. Seven Dogs Saved From Fire

On Tuesday afternoon, a multi agency effort saved seven dog's lives from an active residential fire at 535 South 500 West in Porter Township. Quick thinking by these 1st responders resulted in their entering the smoke filled structure and removing a total of 7 dogs that were all unconscious. Two of the dogs were pregnant. The dogs appeared to be unresponsive as a result of smoke inhalation. None of the 1st responders were injured. All of the dogs have survived the incident as a result of everyone’s brave actions.
