The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is joining about 230 law-enforcement agencies across Indiana and thousands nationwide in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization. From mid-August through Labor Day, police will be working overtime to arrest impaired drivers. Authorities Looking to Speak to Person of Interest in Shooting With Ties To Michigan City

In an update to the June 23rd fatal shooting of 27 year old Brandon D. Williams of Niles, Michigan, 28 year old Tyler Crawford has been identified as a person of interest. The shooting occurred outside Kelly's Pub in South Bend. The County Metro Homicide Unit would like to speak to him regarding this investigation.Crawford has links to South Bend and Michigan City. South Shore Line: Bears preseason 18th St. Station service

Red Cross and Partners Reach 26 Lives Saved in Indiana Through Home Fire Campaign

US 421 Roadwork In Michigan City

On US 421 In Michigan City, patching is taking place ahead of a resurfacing project between I-94 and U.S. 20. Work is taking place in the outside lanes until approximately Monday before shifting to the inside lanes. Then, milling and paving operations will begin.

Police Seeking Suspect Information in Arson Investigation

The Valparaiso Police are investigating the report of several vehicles being damaged due to fire, at 105 Bush St., on August 4th. Officers responded to the location at 12:20 a.m. locating several fires having been ignited within vehicles. The Valparaiso Fire Department also responded to assist in extinguishing the fires. In total, nine vehicles sustained damage as a result of the multiple fires. Fatal Hit and Run Leads To Arrest In Michigan City

On Monday evening just before 7:30, officers of the Michigan City Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Jackson and Michigan, in reference to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian.  Officers located a female that was severely injured being administered CPR  by a bystander as the first officer, took over administering first aid. It was initially reported through witnesses at the scene that a Cadillac struck the pedestrian as she crossed the roadway in the crosswalk. The La Porte Police Department is joining about 230 law-enforcement agencies across Indiana and thousands nationwide in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization. SUV Caught on Michigan City Bridge

An SUV that was on a Michigan City drawbridge when it began to rise was partially crushed between the rising part of the bridge and the pavement. An Ohio couple that was inside the SUV was not hurt. The incident happened Friday afternoon on the south side of the Franklin Street bridge, which was stuck upright for about two hours while first responders tried to figure out how to remove the car. All passengers were out of the vehicle with no injuries and it was determined that there was no fire. Several agencies were called to check on the integrity

Roll Over Crash on I-65 Saturday Night

Indiana State Police investigated a roll over crash on Saturday night. The crash occurred on I-65 at the 241 mile marker, which is just north of the Lowell exit. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Clay Mcbride revealed that for unknown reasons a 2001 silver Lexus, being driven by 18 year old Ariel Enzian of Hammond, overturned and went off into the center median. The crash threw a debris field across all lanes of I-65 northbound and southbound, prompting all lanes to be closed temporarily for clean up.
