Construction to begin on I-94 between State Road 49 and U.S. 421 PORTER AND LA PORTE COUNTIES, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors LP will have lane closures on I-94 between State Road 49 and U.S. 421 beginning on or after Sunday, March 15. Overnight lane closures will occur during the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for one evening to set up a median work zone to the west of U.S. 421 for approximately three miles. The left shoulder and lane will then be closed in each direction through early April while a median crossover is constructed

Yesterday morning Deputy Ken Etchison responded to a parcel of property located in the 6800 north block of SR 39 regarding a civil matter. The property owned advised Deputy Etchison that 44-year-old Charles J. WILSON expressed his intentions of staying on the property even though he was no longer authorized to do so. A computer check determined WILSON was a wanted person by authorities in Porter County for felony resisting law enforcement (RLE). Deputies arrived at the property and converged on a recreational trailer (RV) known to be where WILSON had been residing. Deputies made contact with an occupant of

The National Weather Service out of Chicago and Northern Indiana have completed preliminary surveys of Tuesday's night’s supercell thunderstorms. It produced three tornadoes. Keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers. First Tornado An EF-3 with peak winds of 150 mph, it moved from Kankakee, Illinois, to Lake Village, Indiana, and then to Roselawn, Indiana, before briefly lifting. The width and length are yet to be determined. Second Tornado EF-1 on the ground for a short time from Stoutsberg to Dunns Bridge with peak winds of 110mph. Length and width to be determined. 80/94 FlexRoad construction is beginning soon! Work is expected to begin this spring and be ongoing through 2029, with all systems operational by late that year.   FlexRoad is an Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) project in coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). It's expected to improve traffic flow and safety along Indiana’s busiest interstate corridor, I-80/94, also known as the Borman Expressway.   The 14-mile project area extends from I-65 in Indiana to IL 394. The project will use Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) strategies to optimize the safety and efficiency of the existing transportation system.

Nearly 50 items recalled in February: Hoosiers to look out for hazardous products
