Recover NWI Revolving Loan Fund Information

NIRPC is reminding businesses that the Recover NWI Revolving Loan Fund is a program to assist local businesses and organizations in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the impact of the coronavirus and to economic injury as a result of the pandemic in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties. The fund has a total of $530,000 available for these loans. Loan funds can be used for working capital, fixed assets, marketing, inventory, staffing, job retention, building purchase, land purchase, and other eligible expenses. Multiple Beach Hazards Statements Remain in effect from this evening through Wednesday afternoon. Forn, La Porte county and Berrien Counties, life threatening waves and currents expected. Those visiting the beaches should stay out of the water. Waves of 3 to 5 feet are expected tonight into Wednesday morning, subsiding to 2 to 4 feet in the afternoon. 60% of Purdue students, 66% of employees so far have been fully vaccinated

Pledging to do their part for a staged return to normalcy on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus this fall, 60% of incoming Purdue students and 66% of Purdue employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have submitted proof four weeks in advance of the Aug. 13 fall semester deadline. Purdue University Northwest adds honey bees to its campus communities

Earlier this spring, Purdue University Northwest (PNW) added several new housing units. The mini complexes were designed for the newest residents on the PNW campuses – honey bees. Double Shooting Investigation (UPDATE)

On July 13th, 2021 at approximately 9:20pm, Officers from Uniform Patrol Shift 2 were dispatched to the 1100 block of Buffalo Street regarding an unconscious male bleeding from the head. Officers arrived on scene and discovered 39-year-old Michigan City resident Aaron Luncsford lying on the floor with a severe head injury. Luncsford had a faint pulse and was immediately transported to Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital by LaPorte County EMS where he was later pronounced deceased. Portage Fire Department Announce Passing Of K9 Bosco

The Portage Fire Department announced that on Tuesday K9 Bosco passed away. He served 13 years with the Portage Fire Department. PFD said that Bosco has been involved in every type of fire you could imagine from small car fires to murders. Bosco has worked cases that have resulted in numerous felony convictions, including murder and attempted murder. City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department Reminding Public of Smoking/Vaping and Alcohol Rules

The City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department is sending a friendly reminder that Park Department policy prohibits smoking and vaping within 50 feet of playgrounds, splash pads and the skate park as well as baseball/softball fields and tennis courts during youth programs, including games, practices and lessons.
