The Water Department's spring water system flushing is set to begin this weekend, according to La Porte Water Superintendent Tim Werner. Beginning Sunday, April 12 and continuing for four to five weeks, crews will be out to flush fire hydrants throughout the community Sunday through Thursday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Werner reminds residents that this process is a critical part of maintaining the city’s water quality and infrastructure. “Hydrant flushing is a very necessary part of our system maintenance,” Werner said. “We know it can be an inconvenience to residents, but it is an important

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Superior Construction Co Inc will have lane closures on State Road 912/Cline Ave at the I-94 interchange beginning on or after Monday, April 6. Pamela Anderson never had children of her own, so when she unexpectedly found herself caring for her husband’s six-week-old granddaughter, she wasn’t sure where to begin. The 57-year-old Cedar Lake woman said she was overwhelmed and wasn’t sure where to turn for help. On March 31st at 12:12 AM, the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 regarding a person who was stabbed during a domestic dispute while inside a residence within the 500 block of Pearl Street. Officers from Uniform Patrol Shift 3 responded to the scene and located an adult male suffering from serious bodily injuries. Responding officers provided life saving measures to the victim before they were transported to Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City by LaPorte County EMS for medical treatment. Officers located the suspect who was identified as 38-year-old Michigan City resident Nicole Williams. Williams was arrested
