Domestic dispute leads to stabbing

On March 31st at 12:12 AM, the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 regarding a person who was stabbed during a domestic dispute while inside a residence within the 500 block of Pearl Street. Officers from Uniform Patrol Shift 3 responded to the scene and located an adult male suffering from serious bodily injuries. Responding officers provided life saving measures to the victim before they were transported to Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City by LaPorte County EMS for medical treatment. MCPD: Cause of death revealed during death investigation

The Michigan City Police released the following update with a cause of death revealed to a recent death investigation: On March 27th at approximately 9:48 AM, the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding an unconscious person found outside of Temple Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2725 Wabash Street. Officers from Uniform Patrol Shift 1 responded to the scene and located 57-year-old Michigan City resident Erik Johnson lying on the ground unconscious. Dumpster Program returns in La Porte

The City of La Porte announced the Dumpster Program has returned for its fifth season. Located at the Street Department (1206 2nd Street), the dumpster will be available to city residents Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Due to increased demand, the dumpster will also be available on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (NOTE: Dumpster will be closed on the Fridays before the 1st and 3rd Saturdays to allow for more room the following day). La Porte Park and Recreation Department awarded LARE Grant for lakes

The La Porte Park and Recreation Department announced they have been awarded a $6,500 Lake and River Enhancement (LARE) Invasive Aquatic Vegetation Management Grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. "The grant funds 80 percent of the cost for surveying and treating Clear Lake for invasive plants such as Eurasian watermilfoil and purple loosestrife," the Park and Rec Department said on its Facebook page.
