Christopher L. Hill Appointed Assistant Superintendent of the Indiana State Police

Indiana State Police Lieutenant Christopher L. Hill has been promoted to the rank of Colonel and will serve as the Indiana State Police Assistant Superintendent.  Hill was born and raised in Madison, Indiana. After graduating from Shawe Memorial High School in 1986, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Dayton in 1990. Hill graduated from the 53rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December of 1995.  He was assigned to patrol duties at the Versailles Post before becoming a Detective in the Gaming Division. In 2004, he transferred to the Drug Enforcement Section (DES)

Ohio Man Tries Driving Vehicle Off Tow Truck to Avoid Arrest

On Friday, January 10th, Trooper Carlson responded to a vehicle crash that occurred on southbound I-65 near the 206 mile-marker. This location is a mile north of the Rensselaer/Remington exit.  It was a single vehicle crash, minor damage, and required a pullout for a 2008 Toyota Camry. During the crash investigation, it was determined that the driver was lying about his identity and was actually wanted on a probation violation through Ohio for past violent crimes. While trying to detain the driver, he forcibly pulled away and ran across all lanes of I-65 almost causing several accidents in the inclement weather.

Indiana Makes New Law Teen Work Hours

Indiana law no longer limits the daily or weekly working hours of individuals between 16 and 18 years old who are employed in nonhazardous occupations. Hours: 16- and 17-year-olds can work the same hours and days as adults, without parental permission.  Overtime: Employees who work more than 8 hours a day, or 40 hours per week, are entitled to overtime.  The new law eliminates Indiana's previous work hour restrictions, including:  The nine-hour daily limit The 40-hour weekly limit during school The 48-hour weekly limit outside of school The six-day maximum work week The prohibition on working before 6 AM The requirement to

Fatal Domestic Stabbing

At 4:32 p.m. Thursday afternoon St. Joseph County Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Coronation Gardens in Castle Point Apartments for a report of a domestic stabbing. A caller reported her son had stabbed her husband. Officers arrived to find a Lee Alexis, age 34, with stab wounds to the chest. Medical personnel immediately transported Alexis to the emergency room. A short time later  in another area of Castle Point, officers located and detained Alexis' stepson Corey Antoine Demetris Young, age 21. Lee Alexis passed away at the hospital Thursday evening and an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday. Corey
