The DEA will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at locations across the country on October 25th, 2025. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible method of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Deputies from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and learned a juvenile involved in this crash investigation was suspected of a double homicide that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Schofield Court in Michigan City. On October 19th, 2025, at approximately 1:30am the Michigan City Police Department conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 100 block of Schofield Court. Two adults were found deceased inside the residence from foul play. One juvenile male is currently in custody. The incident is under active investigation.
