Eastbound I-94 concrete work moving to next phase

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor will move to phase 5 of 6 for concrete restoration work on I-94 eastbound between State Road 912/Cline Avenue and I-65 starting on or after Friday, Sept. 15. There will be overnight lane closures on eastbound I-94 from approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept.16. Beginning the morning of Saturday, Sept. 16, traffic will be in a new configuration with the work zone to the right and travel lanes shifted left. Body of Chicago recovered from Lake Michigan in Whiting

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reporting conservation officers are investigating the death of a Chicago man whose body was recovered from Lake Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 9, according to a Facebook post from the Town of Chesterton. The Town of Chesterton stated the following on its Facebook page: "According to the DNR, at 4:09 p.m. first-responders were dispatched to Whiting Lakefront Park to search for a missing person, last seen struggling in the water, then going under near the boat ramps. U.S. 421 to close for bridge work south of La Crosse

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. - An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor will close U.S. 421 between County Road West 400 South and County Road West 2400 South on or after Monday, Sept. 18. U.S. 421 will be closed through mid-November for bridge deck overlay projects over the Kankakee River and Payne Ditch. Motorists should seek an alternate route. The official detour will follow State Road 10, State Road 39 and State Road 8.

Crash on I-65 involving semi and school bus sends one driver to Hospital, one driver to jail

One person was injured and another went to jail after a crash involving a school bus and a semi Thursday night on I-65 in Jasper County. At about 11:15 p.m. the Lowell Regional Dispatch Center received 911 calls of a crash involving a school bus and a semi on I-65, northbound lanes at the 222 mile-marker. This location is two miles north of the Fair Oaks exit. Troopers responded to the scene and located a school bus in the right ditch.  The driver of the bus was pinned in the vehicle, but was alert. Detectives investigating homicide at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City

Detectives with the Indiana State Police are investigating a homicide at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. Friday morning at about 4:30 a.m., detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division Lowell Post responded to the Indiana State Prison located in Michigan City for a death investigation. The victim, an inmate at the prison, has been identified as 44-year-old Victor Glenn, from Indianapolis, IN. Glenn was serving a sentence for murder with a projected release date of 6/15/2066. This is an active homicide investigation.

The Michigan City Police Department is welcoming it’s newest K9s “Ubbe” & “Clavo”. K9 Ubbe is a 1 year-old, male, Dutch Shepherd from Poland. K9 Clavo is also a 1 year-old, male, Dutch Shepherd, born in Germany. Officer Chris Manns and K9 Ubbe (right), along Officer Josh Callahan and K9 Clavo (left) will spend the next 6 weeks at Von Liche Kennels training, bonding, and working together to develop their skills in narcotics recognition and tracking.

This weekend is Apple Fest at the Garwood Orchards Farm Market - an annual Arts and Crafts show held at the Farm Market area. Valparaiso Police Investigating Crash

  Valparaiso Police Investigating Crash   The Valparaiso Police Department responded to a single motor vehicle crash in the area of State Road 49 and US. Highway 30 at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The crash resulted in the fatality of a passenger within the vehicle.  The motor vehicle crash remains under investigation; however, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor at this time.  All ramps along the US Highway 30 and State Road 49 interchange that had been previously closed have been reopened as of 7:00 a.m.

Body of juvenile recovered from Lake Michigan in Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after the body of a juvenile was recovered from Lake Michigan near Jeorse Park in East Chicago on Monday. At about 4:20 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the park’s breakwall area for a juvenile male missing in the water. U.S. 31/Michigan Street to be resurfaced near bypass in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor  will be conducting paving operations on U.S. 31/Michigan Street between Jackson Road and Ireland Road beginning on or after Monday, Sept. 11. These paving operations, conducted in conjunction with the City of South Bend, will result in temporary daytime ramp closures at the interchange with the U.S. 31/20 Bypass. Ramps will be reopened to traffic as soon as the pavement has cooled sufficiently. Resurfacing is expected to take approximately four days.
