Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch schedules eight town halls in 2025

Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch has scheduled a series of eight town hall events in 2025 to facilitate face-to-face conversations between Michigan City residents and businesses, the mayor and other leaders from within the municipal government. “Open communication and transparency are major priorities for my administration,” the mayor said. “I want to be sure we’re able to address concerns, provide updates and acknowledge the community’s contributions and achievements.” Each town hall event is expected to last approximately 90 minutes; and they are set at various locations around Michigan City to ensure accessibility. Ladies of Westville Crowned Porter County Conference Champions-Congratulations

The ladies of Westville were crowned Porter County Conference champions Saturday night following their 59 - 37 win over Morgan Township. Capturing the PCC Championship is a first for the Lady Blackhawks who now sit atop the conference with a 19-2 record. Goshen Man Found Guilty After 3-Day Jury Trial

SOUTH BEND – Earlier this week, Orlando Rodriguez-Roman, 42 years old, of Goshen, Indiana, was convicted of three felony counts after a three-day jury trial before United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty, announced Acting United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay. Rodriguez-Roman was found guilty of attempted possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and unlawful possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Sentencing is scheduled for April 29, 2025. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service including the USPS

LaPorte Community School Corporation Participates in Community Funding Resource Program

INDIANAPOLIS – Treasurer Daniel Elliott announced that the Indiana Bond Bank assisted LaPorte Community School Corporation with project financing through its Community Funding Resource (CFR) Program. MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Registration is now open for the Franciscan Health Michigan City Produce Prescription Program, which aims to assist with chronic disease management. Upon successful completion of the free, four-week program, participants will receive produce vouchers for fresh produce every month for six months.
