Shots Fired at 6515 Ameriplex Drive (Camaco)-one person dead

On Wednesday October 16th, 2024, at approximately 3:30a.m., Officers responded to 6515 Ameriplex Drive (Camaco) in reference to a report of shots fired outside of the building. Upon arrival, officers discovered a twenty-two-year-old Burns Harbor man in the employee parking area who was deceased. Witnesses report that during shift change there was a verbal argument between the deceased, who is an employee of the business, and the suspect prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Detectives have identified a person of interest and officers are in a neighboring community attempting to locate this person

Indiana Connectivity Deployment In La Porte County

La Porte County started the Broadband Task Force in 2019 with the intention of improving service to residents and businesses. Through thoughtful and intentional partnership with Internet Providers, additional service areas are being added to their networks. On October 9th, 2024 Surf Broadband was awarded funding from Indiana Connectivity, round 11, to serve 50+ currently underserved households. NIPSCO Seeks Grant Applications for Public Safety Education and Responder Training

For the seventh consecutive year, Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) is accepting applications for its Public Safety Education and Training Action Grant to support local nonprofit organizations and first responders to provide public safety education and training across northern Indiana. The Porter County Board of Health and the Porter County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce the appointment of Rodney Guimont Jr., M.D., as the new health officer for Porter County. MCHS MCJROTC Raiders compete in Peoria

The answer to the question “How does it play in Peoria” as it pertains to the Michigan City High School (MCHS) Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) Raider Team is “with grit and determination.” The cadets competed in a Raider Meet at Peoria Richwoods High School. Raiders is a physically demanding event, based on physical skills that would be required in combat. The Wolves earned a third place trophy in a very competitive meet. South Shore Line: Van Buren Street Station Temporary Platform: Oct. 14-27

South Shore Line westbound passengers destined for Van Buren St. Station are advised they will begin utilizing a temporary platform at Van Buren St. beginning Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, through Oct. 27, 2024. The City of Michigan City is reminding the public that City Hall and the offices at Central Services will be closed to the public on Monday, Oct. 14 in observation of the federal holiday. State Road 149 to have short-term closure

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. - An INDOT contractor will close State Road 149 between County Road 875 North/Robbins Road and County Road 925 North on or after Monday, Oct. 14. State Road 149 will be closed for approximately five days for tree clearing to allow for utility relocations ahead of a 2025 construction project. This area of State Road 149 will close again in the spring of 2025 for an intersection improvement project at State Road 149 and Robbins Road. Motorists should seek alternate routes. The official detour for this closure will follow U.S. 20, State Road 49 and U.S. 6.

I-94 to have overnight lane closures

PORTER and LA PORTE COUNTIES, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors North Inc will have overnight lane closures on I-94 between mile marker 31 to 36 (east and west of the U.S. 421 exit) beginning on or after Sunday, Oct. 13. Porter County Sheriff’s Office seeking assistance locating missing man

The Porter County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance for help locating a missing subject. Gary Cunningham is described as 70 years of age, approximately 5'6", 140 pounds, with white hair. Police say Cunningham was last seen on Sept. 12, 2024 at the Portage Wal-Mart. Cunningham was last observed wearing a light colored button up t-shirt and blue jeans. It is believed that Cunningham may have last been riding a bicycle and frequents the South Haven and Portage area.
