In an update, Michigan City Police say they are conducting a homicide investigation after a juvenile was killed after a shooting on West 11th Street this past Friday. On Friday May 15, at approximately 4:30 PM, the Michigan City Police Department received a call regarding a juvenile that was shot in the 300 block of West 11th Street. Officers quickly responded to the scene and located 14-year-old Michigan City resident Devin Porter suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. One person died following a crash on U.S. 20 early Sunday in La Porte County. Just after 12:45 a.m., deputies responded to the area of U.S. 20 and Michigan Street for a crash involving a passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle (CMV). The initial on-scene investigation completed by Deputy Jon Sikorski and assisting deputies determined the following had occurred. One Killed in Crash on I-65 near Crown Point, IN –The latest from the Indiana State Police-Lowell Post On Saturday, May 16, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Indiana State Police troopers responded to a two‑vehicle crash on northbound I‑65, about one mile south of the Crown Point exit (mile marker 246.2). State Road 933 road project to begin between State Road 331 and Ash Rd ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Rieth-Riley Construction Co Inc will begin a road resurfacing and curb ramp reconstruction project on State Road 933/Lincolnway from State Road 331 to Ash Rd on or after Monday, May 18. During phase one, crews will be installing storm drainage improvements on the north side of State Road 933 between Chestnut St and Ash Rd. SOUTH BEND – Charles Pheal, Jr., 35 years old, of Michigan City, Indiana, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty after pleading guilty to distributing 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Adam L. Mildred. Michigan City Police say they responded to a shooting at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday May 15, near the 300 block of West 11th Street. One individual was injured. The incident is under active investigation. Police say at this time, there is no known ongoing threat to the community, and they will provide updates if additional information becomes available.

Tippecanoe County, Indiana – On May 15, 2026, just after 4:00 p.m., troopers with the Indiana State Police responded to a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a school bus at the intersection of State Road 28 and County Road 400 East in Tippecanoe County. Preliminary investigation by an Indiana State Police crash reconstructionist indicates a Tippecanoe School Corporation school bus was traveling southbound on County Road 400 East and stopped at the intersection with State Road 28.
