Rep. Pressel: bill expanding mobile healthcare funding heads to Senate

STATEHOUSE – The Indiana House of Representatives advanced State Rep. Jim Pressel's (R-Rolling Prairie) legislation to enable counties to use mobile integrated health care programs for Hoosiers living in areas that lack medical providers. Mobile integrated health care is used by EMS providers to offer a wider range of medical services, such as chronic disease management and basic primary care, for Hoosiers living in rural areas who struggle to find adequate health care. According to a study from the University of Southern Maine, 46 of Indiana's 92 counties meet the definition of an "EMS desert," where residents live at least 25 minutes

NPUSC Board of Trustees passes a resolution opposing HB 1136 and HB 1501

On Monday, January 27, 2025 at the NPUSC monthly board meeting, the NPUSC Board of School Trustees passed a resolution opposing HB 1136 and HB 1501 that are currently being considered in committee. These bills will take away local control of schools and as a result disband the public school board and turn those school districts into Charter schools - people who do not live in our communities will be in charge of running our schools. ELKHART COUNTY HOMICIDE UNIT CONTINUING INVESTIGATION INTO DEADLY SHOOTING AT SUPERMARKET, SUSPECT DEAD January 27, 2025, was a tragic day in Elkhart County. Benjamin S. Jeffrey (49), and Annasue Rocha (19), both of Elkhart, were killed by a lone gunman at approximately 5:45 pm in the Martin’s Supermarket on East Jackson Boulevard in Elkhart, Indiana. Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch schedules eight town halls in 2025

Goshen Man Found Guilty After 3-Day Jury Trial

SOUTH BEND – Earlier this week, Orlando Rodriguez-Roman, 42 years old, of Goshen, Indiana, was convicted of three felony counts after a three-day jury trial before United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty, announced Acting United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay. Rodriguez-Roman was found guilty of attempted possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and unlawful possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Sentencing is scheduled for April 29, 2025. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service including the USPS
