Paving to take place on State Road 8

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews will resurface a section of State Road 8 beginning on or after Monday, July 7. Be alert for road crews on State Road 8 between Range Rd and U.S. 35, with flaggers directing traffic in the area where work is occurring. This work should take approximately five days to complete, with milling operations expected to take two days and paving operations three days. City-Wide Back to School Rally Supply Drive

Work begins on several Michigan City streets today

In Michigan City today, milling (removal of the surface) has started on Kentucky Street from Garfield Street to Ninth Street, William Street from Kentucky Street to Ohio Street, Ripley Street from Kentucky Street to Ohio Street, and Arthur Street from Ohio Street to Wabash Street and will continue until complete. Paving will be done on Henry Street from Manhattan Street to Wabash Street. All road construction is weather permitting and subject to change. State Road 8 scheduled to close between Hebron and Kouts

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor LaPorte Construction Company will close State Road 8 between C.R. 150 W and C.R. 50 W on or after Monday, July 7. State Road 8 will be closed through late August for a bridge deck overlay project over Cobb Ditch. Motorists should seek alternate routes. NEWLY APPROVED NIPSCO ELECTRIC RATES SUPPORT SAFETY, RELIABILITY AND CUSTOMER PROGRAMS

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. – Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) received approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to adjust its electric rates. DEPUTIES INVESTIGATE CLINTON TOWNSHIP FATALITY CRASH

Sunday morning at 11:11 AM, deputies responded to the intersection of CR 800 South and CR 900 West regarding a single vehicle crash.  The initial on-scene investigation completed by Deputy Ryan Doperalski and assisting deputies determined the following had occurred.   A green 2001 Ford Ranger, being driven by 31-year-old Rebecca L. KUIPER of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was traveling eastbound on CR 800 South.  The pickup truck traveled off the roadway west of CR 900 West onto the gravel shoulder.  KUIPER overcorrected the pickup truck causing it to begin sliding sideways in the roadway.  At the intersection of CR 800
